Student visa applications can only be made after students have received confirmation of their enrollment at their chosen university. When it comes to applying for a visa, it's best to do so as soon as possible rather than waiting until the course program starts.
The process of applying for a student visa involves various steps and requirements that differ from country to country. This can seem overwhelming for students, but our counselors are here to guide you through the procedure.
With Maximax on your side, we ensure that our students are informed about the latest visa conditions and requirements. You don't need to worry; we will assist you in preparing all the necessary documents required for visa processing.
Visa Requirements for International Students
You can apply for a visa once you have been granted admission to a college or university and accepted the offer. The educational institution will need evidence of adequate funds to cover tuition, living expenses, travel costs, medical insurance for the entire program duration, and recommended dental insurance.
While F-1 visa requirements are only for the first year, most colleges expect students to demonstrate financial support for the entire course of study. This includes providing a certified bank letter along with an affidavit of support and student/sponsor certifications.
The college will then furnish the student with Form I-20. This document must be accompanied by the printed confirmation page from the online DS-160 visa application, as well as a valid passport, a photograph meeting specific size requirements, and the visa processing fee. It's important to note that in addition to the I-901 SEVIS fee, there is also a separate visa application fee.
Make sure that your passport remains valid for at least 6 months beyond your period of stay. As for the photograph, it should measure 2 inches long and wide (51 mm x 51 mm) against a light background while showing your full face. Following this step comes scheduling an interview appointment at the U.S. embassy or consulate; upon successful completion of this process, you can receive your visa.
There are three kinds of student visas available: F-1, J-1, and M-1. The F-1 visa is commonly utilized for bachelor’s and graduate degree programs whereas the M-1 visa applies to trade and vocational schools limited to one year in total duration. During their time in America under these visas, students are required to maintain full-time enrollment status.
